Farewell, Ma’am Ging

The UP Diliman (èßäAV) community mourns the passing of one of its faculty members, Ma. Linnea V. Tanchuling, DSD, on June 19.

In her more than 30 years of service to the University as a faculty member, Tanchuling also served as DCD chairperson, an editorial board member of the College of Social Work and Community Development’s (CSWCD) peer-reviewed Philippine Journal of Social Development, and a lecturer at the Doctor of Social Development (DSD) Lecture Series held during the CSWCD College Week, among others.

Tanchuling earned her DSD degree from CSWCD in 2024. Some of her research interests included adult education, community development, and women’s empowerment, particularly among marginalized communities and fisherfolk sectors.

According to a post at the CSWCD Facebook page, those who wish to pay their respects to Tanchuling may attend the viewing from June 25 (5 p.m.) to June 28 at St. Peter Chapels in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. The College will also hold a special program in Tanchuling’s honor on June 26, 7 p.m.
